House Majority Leader Steny
Hoyer (D-MD) announced Thursday evening that
the chamber will vote Friday on a final
economic stimulus package. Although the bill's
total cost was unclear at presstime,
discretionary spending accounted for $311
billion, $50 billion less than the House-passed
version and $21 billion more than the Senate
bill.
Some topline spending
figures include $10 billion for Title I
education grants, $4.7 billion to deliver
broadband technology in underserved areas, and
$4.2 billion for the Pentagon's construction
and rehabilitation projects. House and Senate
leaders signed off on $53.6 billion in funding
for the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund, $25
billion less than the House's allocation and
$14.6 billion more than the Senate's level.
