Test Vote on Wall Street Reform Bill Scheduled for Monday
(Apr. 25, 2010)
The Senate on Monday will hold a test vote on the Wall Street
Reform Act, legislation aimed at tightening federal oversight
of the financial sector with the goal of preventing a
financial crisis similar to the one that occurred in late
2008. The procedural vote on whether to officially bring the
bill to the floor for debate is scheduled for 5:00 PM, and
will require a 60-vote supermajority. Thus, Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) will need at least one Republican to
vote in favor of moving forward with the bill. |
